The cattle farm in Chui oblast is one of the farms that received 50 heads of purebred Angus cattle and modern agricultural machinery valued at $1 million as part of the special program, administered in close cooperation with the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. The farm is repaying the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic for the equipment and cattle under a special long-term loan arrangement.
Fifteen fourth and fifth year student-clinicians from six law schools of Kyrgyzstan took part in the Academy of Human Rights which took place on August 24-27 in Issyk-Kul. During the summer school students learned about human rights issues within national legal framework and strengthened their professional skills in protecting rights and interests of clients in legal proceedings. The training was organized by ABA ROLI as part of USAID’s “Support to the Kyrgyzstani Legal Defense Community Program”.
On August 24-26, 2015 PF “AIDS Foundation East-West” (AFEW) organized a training for 20 penal medical staff of the State Service on Penalty Execution of the KR on HIV testing and counseling. The participants learned about the new national clinical protocol on HIV testing and counseling.
USAID Women’s Leadership in Small and Medium Enterprises (WLSME) program’s closing event took place on August 28, 2015 from 9:00 till 14:00 at Park Hotel Bishkek. The event brought together representatives of relevant Ministries, non-government organizations, experts and 100 women entrepreneurs from all regions of Kyrgyzstan that had opportunities to develop their businesses through WLSME program. The main topic of discussion at the closing event is supporting and developing women entrepreneurship and contribution of women leaders in the development of the Kyrgyz economy.
Kyrgyz Association of Tour Operators (KATO) presented a comprehensive electronic catalog of places to stay for tourists in Kyrgyzstan and results of the project.
120 secondary school students from all over Kyrgyzstan participated in summer camps in Osh and Issyk-Kul in August to learn critical thinking, leadership skills, teamwork, civic values, and community engagement. The camps included innovative, interactive activities such as educational games, role plays, and multimedia training to provide youth opportunities to learn both how to lead and to work as a team for the good of their communities. These annual camps are hosted by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
