The United States Government (USG), through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and in close cooperation with the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic (GOK) handed over agricultural equipment to 14 seed farms from throughout the Kyrgyz Republic as part of the Economic Development Fund Program. The $7.4 million in assistance is aimed to develop a sustainable seed industry in the country. The participating seed farms will help to ensure that the domestic market’s needs for high quality seed are met while also expanding opportunities for export to regional and international markets.
On January 15, 2013, the Center for Public Technologies brought together civil society organizations, representatives from the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and Members of Parliament to launch a new guide to working with local government bodies.
On January 14, 2013, the Public Union “International Center Interbilim” (Interbilim) will facilitate a discussion with civil society organizations in southern Kyrgyzstan on procedures for promoting legislation to the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament). The workshop is part of Interbilim’s efforts to teach civic actors how to better engage with Parliament. The event will begin at 13:00 hrs at the Conference room of Kyrgyz Concept; address #1, Bayalinov Street, in Osh city.
On December 28, 2012, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through its Quality Health Care Project, will hold an awards ceremony to recognize the infection prevention control improvements made in primary health care facilities in Issyk-Ata Rayon. At the event, USAID Representative Carey Gordon and Deputy Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic Marat Kaliev will award certificates and prizes to the contest winners for the best “Respiratory Diseases Infection Control Plans,” in which 18 family group practices in the region took part. The award ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. at the Kant Rayon Akimiat (district administration) (78 Dzerjinskogo Street, Kant).
