TIRANA, OCTOBER 29, 2010 The American Chamber of Commerce in Albania (AmCham) published today the findings of a monitoring report on the usage of Albania’s Electronic Procurement System (EPS).
TIRANA, OCTOBER 28, 2010 Today, Albania’s first national training center for obstetrics and gynecology opened its doors at the Queen Geraldina Maternity Hospital in Tirana. The training center, which is operated in cooperation with the University of Tirana Medical Faculty, received $10,000 worth of medical equipment from USAID that will allow medical students to practice safer and more effective clinical procedures for delivering babies and caring for mothers in Albania.
TIRANA, OCTOBER 21, 2010 USAID’s Local Governance Program in Albania (LGPA) released a study on “Immovable Property Tax – an Innovative Instrument for Increasing Local Revenues” during a roundtable discussion organized with representatives from local government units, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Interior, the Immovable Property Registration Office, and other stakeholders. The research and policy study was prepared by urban finance experts from Co-PLAN, with support by USAID and the Open Society Institute’s “Influence on Policymaking” project.
TIRANA, OCTOBER 15, 2010 The Albanian Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo, in collaboration with Health Ministries of both countries, held an international conference today to address challenges in managing health care systems in the region. Organized with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the conference took place at the Albanian Academy of Sciences.
