Residents of Jalal-Abad city renovated the concert hall in the Jalal-Abad Oblast Children's Art Center. The hall opening ceremony was held today, November 20, 2014. The hall renovation was carried out with financial support of the USAID’s Women's Peace Banks Project implemented by the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA).
Closeout ceremony for TB CARE I project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) will take place at Ak-Keme hotel in Bishkek. Representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, the National TB Program, the country’s penitentiary system, the heads of TB organizations and sanitary-epidemiological service, and representatives of international and non-profit organizations will participate in the ceremony.
On November 12th, at 10 am, the launch of the new Defeat TB program funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) will take place at the Republican Scientific Medical Library in Bishkek. Representatives from the Ministry of Health and other branches of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the U.S. Embassy and international organizations will be in attendance. The five year Defeat TB program will promote international standards for tuberculosis care, and will reduce the spread of tuberculosis including its multi-drug resistant form. The program, implemented by Abt Associates, will complement the national health care strategy on tuberculosis. It will also support the National Tuberculosis Program in expanding the outpatient model for treating TB.
This November two youth forums will highlight the ways the USAID Jasa.kg program, which incorporates life skills training through the Passport to Success® (PTS) curriculum, has enriched the lives of Kyrgyz youth. The events will bring together representatives from the Kyrgyz Republic Ministry of Education and Science and local partner organizations, as well as life skills trainers and more than 400 youth from across the country.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will launch the new USAID Business Growth Initiative (BGI) and close out its economic policy reform project, REFORMA. Deputy Assistant Secretary for Central Asia Daniel N. Rosenblum at the U.S. Department of State, Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Valery Dil and U.S. Ambassador Pamela Spratlen will take part at the event together with Government counterparts, business associations and other Kyrgyz stakeholders.
The United Stated Agency for International Development (USAID) provided the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic (MOJ) with software and computer equipment for examining prospective defense attorneys at a handover ceremony on October 8, 2014 at the Ministry of Justice. Minister of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic Almambet Shykmamatov and USAID Kyrgyz Republic Acting Mission Director Michael Greene spoke at the event.
A two-day conference on "Building cooperation and reducing conflicts between stakeholders in the mining industry" started today on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. The goal of the conference is to develop ideas to prevent conflicts and strengthen cooperation among authorities, mining companies, and local communities. Representatives of national and local government, mining companies, international groups, and non-governmental organizations are participating.
Seminar to review the results of the 2012 Kyrgyz Republic Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) took place in in Bishkek on September 23, 2014. Experts from the National Statistical Committee and the Ministry of Health discussed DHS and other national findings in four areas - children’s nutrition, women’s nutrition, adult health, and domestic violence - and proposed policy changes and new programs to address these challenges.
