The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through ENGINE, its flagship multi-sector nutrition activity, launched the Academic Center of Excellence for Nutrition today at Hawassa University. The Center will contribute to the reduction of under-nutrition among women and children by creating an excellent academic environment that links training, high quality and innovative community-based nutrition services, and nutrition research. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Ethiopian Public Health Institution and other stakeholders, the Center will promote and advance the revised National Nutrition Program and will contribute on impact at national, regional, district, and community levels.
For the second time, Ethiopia has been selected as the ‘Portrait Country’ for this year’s Specialty Coffee Association of America’s (SCAA) Annual Event in Seattle, Washington from April 9 to 12. The annual event attracts more than 8,000 visitors and 2,700 exhibitors. Coffee industry professionals from over 75 countries will attend the event to further develop business relationships, learn about new products and trends in specialty coffee, and take part in skill-building workshops and lectures.
World Vision Ethiopia (WVE), in collaboration with USAID and Inter-Religious Council of Ethiopia, conducted an Interfaith Roundtable for Action on Maternal/Child Health and Nutrition today in Addis Ababa. The purpose of the event was to set common objectives and action steps as to how to fully integrate the engagement of faith leaders into maternal, newborn and child health work across the country.

International development community experts and colleagues joined with representatives from the governments of Ethiopia and the United States at the launch ceremony.
Through a public-private partnership between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Partners in Food Solutions and TechnoServe, the ASTCO Food Complex today launched its new flour product, bringing Ethiopia one of the first locally fortified wheat flours. Based in Addis Ababa and founded in 2004, ASTCO is committed to expand its production of fortified wheat flour.
