Addis Ababa -- The Ethiopia Sustainable Agribusiness Incubator (ESAI), a project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), held a graduation ceremony today for 14 entrepreneurs who successfully introduced an innovative idea to the sesame, dairy and honey sectors, established a company and have started generating revenue.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Ethiopia Central Statistical Agency (CSA) today signed an agreement to begin planning for the 2016 Ethiopia Demographic and Health Survey. The survey, partially funded by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, will provide current and reliable data on fertility and family planning behavior, child mortality, children’s nutritional status, use of maternal and child health services, family planning, knowledge and prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia.
In a ceremony today, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) officially handed over the first of five new health centers to the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Regional Health Bureau. Located in the Sidama Zone (Jaradado), Gurage Zone (Wacho), Hadiya Zone (Mehal Jarso and Sidiya), and Silte Zone (Udasa), these facilities will serve more than 125,000 patients, including people at risk for, living with, or affected by HIV.

Today, the U.S. Government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and in collaboration with Addis Ababa University (AAU), celebrated International Women’s Day (annually held on March 8) under this year’s theme “Make it Happen!” International Women’s Day was first celebrated more than 100 years ago and is a day to commemorate the achievements of women and girls throughout the world.
