Michael Greene
Mission Director

Michael Greene serves as Mission Director for Vietnam. He assumed his previous position as Director for the newly-established Mission of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in the Kyrgyz Republic in September 2013.

He was the Mission Director for USAID/Azerbaijan from 2011 to 2013, where he oversaw USAID's programs to support Azerbaijan's transition to a broad-based, market-driven democracy. Prior to Azerbaijan, he served as Director of the Regional Platform for Western Afghanistan starting in 2009, where he oversaw all USAID stabilization and development field staff, activities, and office operations.

He was the Director of the Office of Alternative Development Programs in USAID/Peru from 2005-2009, managing a multi-sectoral portfolio of programs supporting the development of alternative livelihoods for thousands of families in the coca-growing valleys of the Peruvian amazon.

His other USAID posts have included: Director of the Offices of Private Sector Development in Croatia from 2000-2005 and in Armenia from 1998-2000; Supervisory Executive Officer in the Dominican Republic from 1994-1998; Deputy Executive Officer in Bolivia from 1993-1994; Disaster Assistance Coordinator in Bangladesh from 1987-1988; and Manager of the Regional Office of the Coastal Reconstruction Project in Ecuador in 1985-1986.

Mr. Greene holds an MBA in International Finance from the George Washington University and a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School.
