Today, U.S. Ambassador Tracey Ann Jacobson joined leaders from Kosovo’s judiciary in inaugurating the newly renovated Gllogovc/Glogovac branch of the Pristina Basic Court, the 21st court building refurbished in a joint effort by the governments of Kosovo, the United States, and Norway.
U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo Tracey Ann Jacobson, USAID/Kosovo Mission Director Maureen A. Shauket and President of the Republic of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga today signed a bilateral Development Objective Grant Agreement between the two governments.
USAID Mission Director Maureen A. Shauket presented “Junior Oscars” Awards to young Kosovar film-makers at a ceremony on Friday December 6, 2013. The third annual “Junior Oscars” competition was held amongst 50 schools across Kosovo. Today’s Award Ceremony attracted 200 students at the ODA Theater. The ceremony also included a screening the winning movies.
A tree planting and plaque unveiling ceremony marked the inauguration of the newly rehabilitated court in Dragash/Dragas. The event also included a lively discussion on the importance of the region’s environmental protection and its role in the general welfare of the area’s population.
Today, USAID Kosovo Mission Director, Maureen A. Shauket, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Hajredin Kuci awarded Certificates of Completion of Initial Professional Skills Training for potential Private Enforcement Agents.
Pristina, October 31, 2013. Berries and salads are among the top foods against cancer. In recognition of the October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, USAID/Kosovo on October 31 delivered these healthy locally produced fruits and vegetables known as anti-oxidants to the patients of the Pristina Oncology Institute. USAID used this opportunity to help stress the importance of good nutrition practices in the fight against breast cancer.
In yesterdays’ released Doing Business 2014 report by the World Bank, Kosovo was recognized as #5Top Reformer and moved up to #86 rank in overall rankings amongst 189 world economies surveyed. The report shows Kosovo has been amongst 10 economies improving the most across three or more areas measured by Doing Business.
Children with disabilities in the northern part of Kosovo have a better place to exercise and play as USAID invested in the reconstruction of their building. The Rehabilitation Center for people with disabilities located in the North Mitrovica is able to host and train 162 disabled persons of whom 59 are children.
An architect became a successful designer, a teacher started a chalk producing business have one thing in common – they are all USAID beneficiaries. The successes of these two and many others were part of showcasing success that honored 356 young entrepreneurs at a ceremony held on September 10, 2013.
