The Zardabi “Community Road and Street Light Rehabilitation” project funded under the Socio-Economic Development Activity (SEDA) has been successfully completed. SEDA is co-financed by Government of Azerbaijan and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with support from the Ministry of Economic Development (MoED).
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of Azerbaijan (NGO Support Council) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing their partnership in the implementation of the Socio-Economic Development Activity (SEDA) in Azerbaijan. Paige Alexander, USAID Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia, and Azay Guliyev, Chairman of the NGO Support Council, signed the memorandum.
Ms. Paige Alexander, Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), arrived in Azerbaijan on a two-day visit.
She will join Mr. Thomas Melia, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy and Human Rights, and will meet Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, to discuss inter-governmental development cooperation between the United States and Azerbaijan. The high-level delegation is also expected to meet with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
On April 2, 2013 the Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), held a public discussion of the draft "Law on Public Participation.” The event was organized by International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL) within the framework of the Socio-Economic Development Activity (SEDA), co-financed by the Government of Azerbaijan and USAID, and implemented by the East-West Management Institute (EWMI).

Today the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) presented new food safety manuals that are of crucial importance for the development of food safety policies of Azerbaijan. During the presentation, the participants discussed the current practices and constraints, and outlined necessary future steps.
On February 9, 2013 high school teachers, engineers and high schools students in Goychay learned first-hand the power of the internet to connect people and ideas throughout the world. The training was organized by IREX and its partner Regional Cooperation and Community Development Center (RCCDC). The participants – new bloggers – stepped boldly into the blogosphere after learning to register blog addresses, upload pictures and videos.
Nine professional journalists and university lecturers from Azerbaijan participated in a study tour in the United States of America from January 26 to February 3. The study group members were individually selected and awarded media fellowships by IREX as part of the Cooperative Agreement funded by USAID under the Azerbaijan New Media Project (ANMP).
In November 2012, international and local consultants from the USAID funded Azerbaijan Competitiveness and Trade (ACT) Project conducted a workshop on the “Use of Technology Equipped Cold Storage Management” in Guba. Nineteen farmers and other private sector representatives participated in the Workshop.
