Since 2000, USAID has invested more than $300 million for hundreds of water and wastewater projects in the West Bank and Gaza.
- Upgrading infrastructure
- Constructing or rehabilitating water reservoirs
- Connecting thousands of Palestinian homes to water networks
- Drilling wells
Since 1994:
- 17 wells were drilled or rehabilitated
- 28 water reservoirs were constructed or rehabilitated
- 900 km of water pipelines were installed
These projects have generated more than 1,300,000 days of employment.
USAID-funded wells produce 84% of all West Bank Water Department and Palestinian Water Authority well water in the Southern West Bank.
USAID has connected nearly 130,000 Palestinians to running water in their homes for the first time.
USAID has established a monitoring system which tracks water flow and production rates to facilitate water management and distribution.
