Following its successful launch last week in Ermera, today USAID’s Ba Distrito project launched in Liquica. The project, which is generously supported by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is working to strengthen local governance and improve access to justice.

On September 15, 2014, USAID/Timor-Leste transferred water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) materials valued at $250,000 to the Government of Timor-Leste’s Ministry of Public Works. The materials will now be utilized by the Department of Water Supply (DWS) to support the Ministry’s efforts to provide improved water and sanitation to the citizens of Timor-Leste.

On Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 3:00 PM, the U.S. Charge d’Affairs to Timor-Leste Ambassador McGann and USAID Acting Mission Director Melissa Francis held a reception at the U.S Embassy to introduce the 2014 Timor-Leste Hillary Clinton Scholars. Seven high school graduates from across Timor-Leste won the second round of scholarships. This five-year program enables Timorese students to pursue higher education in the U.S.
