NOVI BEČEJ – Ambassador Michael D. Kirby, State Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sport Nenad Borovčanin, Novi Bečej Mayor Saša Šućurović, president of the Kikinda municipal Assembly Aleksandra Majkić, and the Assistant Mayor of Zrenjanin Duško Radišić, ceremonially opened greenhouses today that have been built with support from the Youth Horticulture Incubator Program.
BELGRADE – Ambassador Michael D. Kirby celebrated Supreme Court Chief Justice Dragomir Milojević’s contribution in improving case processing efficiency and court management on Friday, June 13, 2014 in Belgrade at the Judicial Reform Honors Luncheon, organized by the USAID Separation of Powers Program (SPP).
Serbian civil society organizations were among the first-responders to help fellow citizens in the wake of the devastating floods in the country. Working tirelessly around the clock, civil society organizations mobilized citizen donations, recruited volunteers, organized logistics for storage and delivery of goods, and ensured safe distribution to those in need.
Heavy rains that began in mid-May 2014 caused widespread flooding and landslides across western and southwestern Serbia, particularly in Grad Beograd, Kolubara, Mačva, and Morava districts.
SUBOTICA – Ambassador Michael D. Kirby presented new equipment to the Subotica Public Health Institute’s food testing laboratory today.
The equipment was provided through United States Agency for International Development assistance (approx. $95,000), and will be used to analyze local agricultural products for quality control, including the detection of pesticides.
