The closing ceremony for the Empowered Youth for Positive Changes in South Serbia and Sandžak project was held today at Cultural Center Grad.
In Obrenovac, the neediest families have received a pre-loaded gift card for $330 issued by UniCredit Bank and intended for the reconstruction of their households. The gift cards may be used without any conditions – the recipients determine their needs and priorities - at ATMs or anywhere that accepts Mastercard debit cards. Though the gift card may not cover all of their needs, it will certainly help jumpstart the recovery process.
Washington, D.C. - Azza El-Abd was sworn in today as the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Mission Director for Serbia. USAID Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia Paige Alexander administered the oath.
As Mission Director for Serbia, Ms. El-Abd will be responsible for managing USAID’s program with the objective of supporting Serbia’s efforts to strengthen democratic practices and institutions, increase economic growth, and improve the quality of education.
Bujanovac – United States Ambassador Michael D. Kirby, Predrag Ranić, Head of Caritas Luxembourg Mission in Serbia, and Maja Stojanović, Executive Director at Civic Initiatives, awarded certificates to the third generation of participants in the YouthBuild program in South Serbia. Municipal representatives also distributed letters of recognition to thirty local entrepreneurs for their participation and support.
BELGRADE – Ambassador Michael D. Kirby, Deputy Prime Minister Kori Udovički and President of the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) Zoran Perišić presented certificates to 61 officials from 22 municipalities throughout Serbia today. These local officials successfully finished the e-learning program whose goal was to gain the knowledge and skills needed to better manage economic development in their communities, attract new local and foreign investments, and create jobs.
