USAID’s Private Sector Development Project (PSD) is a three-year, $4.2 million activity to strengthen private sector firms in 12 municipalities in the economically disadvantaged regions of south and southwest Serbia. The project is a is direct partnering with the Government of Serbia and is implemented by the government’s Development Agency of Serbia (DAS) through its network of Regional Development Agencies (RDAs). The RDAs will help growth-oriented companies and business clusters increase sales and exports and create jobs.
The USAID Political Process Support in Serbia Project is a five-year program to develop the institutional capacity of political parties, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia (NARS), targeted governmental institutions and civil society to advance key reforms, enhance the policy development process, improve accountability, increase civic engagement, and support democratic elections.
The Office for Cooperation with Civil Society was established in 2011 to support dialogue between the Serbian Government and civil society organizations (CSOs). The Office works to develop a policy environment that is supportive to civil society; to improve transparency in financing of CSO’s by the national and local governments; and is closely involved in ensuring civil society engagement in the EU accession process.
The Media Coalition and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) have successfully completed the Campaign for Media Literacy – a fifteen-month project to strengthen and support the democratization of Serbian society by promoting media literacy and independent and accountable journalism.
