USAID partnered with the International Food Policy Research Institute from July 2011 to July 2016 on the Pakistan Strategy Support Program. Working with the Ministry of Planning, Reforms and Development they shaped a policy research agenda for Pakistan to achieve economic growth and reduce poverty.
U.S. Consul General Brian Heath visited a mango farm in Tando Hafiz Shah to inspect automated mango graders and processors provided by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). USAID Deputy Mission Director Denise Herbol and Deputy Provincial Director Patrick Brady were also present.
American Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale opened the screening event to showcase three documentary films highlighting the archeological and cultural heritage of Pakistan at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts today. Through the support of the U.S. Ambassador’s Fund grant program, Walkabout Films created films that feature three UNESCO world heritage sites: Taxila Remains, Lahore Fort/Shalimar Gardens, and Rohtas Fort Jhelum in Punjab province.
Through this $10.25 million grant to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), USAID is supporting the education of Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and the education of children from communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Province, which are hosting these TDP families.
U.S. and Pakistani officials gathered today to recognize 33 Pakistani graduate students and two faculty members who will soon travel to the United States to spend a semester at Arizona State University and Oregon State University. During their exchange program, which is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), these individuals will conduct research relating to Pakistan’s most pressing energy challenges.
