USAID Administrator Raj Shah Arrives in Yemen

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Raj Shah arrived in Sana’a Tuesday night for his first visit to Yemen. Administrator Shah, accompanied by Mara Rudman, Assistant Administrator for the Middle East, will meet with President Hadi, Foreign Minister al-Qirbi, government counterparts, private sector and civil society leaders, international donors, and humanitarian and development officials to support the Government of Yemen and the Yemeni people during  this time of transition. Administrator Shah’s visit will advance USAID efforts to address the urgent humanitarian needs of the Yemeni people and help lay the foundation for a unified, stable, democratic, and prosperous Yemen through programs focused on economic, political, educational, health and civic engagement.

The Administrator will also announce additional development and humanitarian assistance from the American people demonstrating the United States’ commitment to a comprehensive and long-term partnership with the Yemeni people.
