COLLABORATIVE SUPPORT FOR HEALTH PROGRAM (pdf - 243k)
The USAID Collaborative Support for Health (CSH) Program supports the Government of Liberia’s objectives of strengthening management and governance of the health system to consistently and effectively deliver quality health and social welfare services. CSH supports the Ministry of Health (MOH) by providing embedded technical support at the national level and to County Health Teams in USAID priority counties of Bong, Lofa, and Nimba. CSH focuses on priority areas aligned with the Government of Liberia’s 10-year National Health and Social Welfare Policy and Plan, as well as the Investment Plan for Building a Resilient Health System in Liberia from 2015-2021.
Current Activities
- Supporting restoration of the health system post-Ebola in line with Liberia’s Investment Plan for Building a Resilient Health System 2015-2021;
- Working with the MOH and partners to improve quality of health care services by strengthening regulation of services, and updating and increasing adherence to national standards, including for infection prevention and control; and
- Supporting the MOH in coordinating roll-out of a national strategy for Health Information Systems development.
Planned Outcomes
- Strengthened leadership and governance capacity of the MOH at central, county and facility levels;
- Quality assurance and quality improvement approaches institutionalized to improve health care service delivery;
- Strengthened management of Liberia’s health workforce and increaed avaialability of skilled personnel;
- Enhanced supply chain management;
- Increased financial sustainability of services and strengthened public financial management systems;
- A strengthened national Health Information System supporting decision-making based on quality data; and
- Improved management of water supply infrastructure improvements by the Ministry of Public Works.
