On July 18, 2013, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through its Kyrgyz Agro-Input Enterprise Development Project (KAED), will host a field day on modern potato cultivation techniques at the Zarya seed farm in the Ak-Suu Rayon, of Issyk-Kul Oblast.  The event will begin at 10:00 a.m.

The Zarya seed farm is one of the fourteen beneficiary farms selected to participate in the Seed Production Assistance Program. The program is supported by USAID and the Kyrgyz Ministry of Agriculture and has provided seed farms with modern agricultural machinery and equipment in addition to technical and management training. The goal is to improve their production and the growth of their business. These seed farms are model enterprises and contribute to the development of the seed sector in the Kyrgyz Republic. Seed farms also serve as technical and management knowledge c enters for regional farmers.

Farmers and representatives of seed farms, local government, agricultural cooperatives, international organizations, rural advisory services and the Kyrgyz Republican Seed Inspectorate will participate in the field day. Participants will learn about new potato varieties, modern cultivation techniques and marketing tips for generating income from potato sales.
