The United States Government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in close cooperation with the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, will hand over agricultural machinery and equipment to 10 competitively selected livestock breeding farms as part of the Economic Development Fund Program. The handover ceremony will be held on December 3, 2013 at 10:00 am at the warehouse of Atalyk Group, 250 Lenin Street, Novopokrovka village, Chui oblast. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambaev, Minister of Agriculture and Melioration Chyngysbek Uzakbaev, and U.S. Ambassador Pamela L. Spratlen are expected to attend the ceremony. All of the newly acquired agricultural equipment will be on display at the event.
The Economic Development Fund Program is aimed at increasing the productivity and profitability of livestock farming by upgrading production systems, including equipment, herd genetics, and management systems for 10 commercially-viable livestock farms that were selected based upon competition by the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of the Kyrgyz Republic. The selected farms will serve as model livestock operations, yielding immediate results and laying the foundation for transforming the livestock sector.
Almost 400 pieces of agricultural equipment, including tractors, combines, irrigation equipment and milking equipment will be delivered to the selected livestock farms throughout the Kyrgyz Republic under the Economic Development Fund Program.
The program was jointly designed by the U.S. Government and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and is jointly implemented by USAID in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic.
