USAID’s KAED Project to Host Event on Best Practices in Corn Cultivation

USAID’s Kyrgyz Agro-Input Enterprise Development Project (KAED), jointly with the Tim Agro agricultural cooperative will host a field day for local farmers and other agricultural specialists August 20, 2014. The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. on the fields of Tim Agro agricultural cooperative in Luxembourg village, Issyk-Ata rayon, Chui oblast.

Farmers, seed importers, local government representatives, agricultural cooperatives, financial institutes, international organizations, and service providers are invited to participate in the event.

Participants will learn about best agricultural practices for corn cultivation based on the experiences of the Tim Agro agricultural cooperative. Participants will also learn about corn hybrids from the Fito Semillac Company and plant development, which will assist farmers choose the best hybrid for their own use to maximize output in the upcoming production year. Methodological materials on corn cultivation will be also provided during the demonstration. Farmers will receive personal consultations from the head of Tim Agro agricultural cooperative and representatives of the Fito Semillac Company, which will have staff on-hand from its offices in Spain and Turkey to answer questions. The event will also feature a display of working machinery demonstrations, including John Deere and Claas Orion tractors, Claas Dominator combines, and mounted agricultural machinery from Kunh, Amazone, Berko, and BioStar, and specialists will be available to discuss the advantages of new agricultural machinery and improvements in corn cultivation.
