On December 23, 2014, the State Tax Service of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic will open a new Citizen Service Center at Dordoi market in Bishkek. The newly refurbished facility will help improve customer service for more than 7000 businesses as well as traders working at the market. 

Prime Minister Joomart Otorbayev, Mayor Kubanychbek Kulmatov, the leadership of the State Tax Service, representatives of local government and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and entrepreneurs of the market will attend the opening ceremony inside the Alkan market on the territory of Dordoi at 14:00.

In recent years the tax service has worked to develop a more customer-oriented approach by expanding their network of existing Service Centers and taking steps to improve interactions with taxpayers. This network of Service Centers, based on the “one-stop shop” principle, is a single location where entrepreneurs can register businesses and more easily pay taxes. USAID, through the Good Governance and Public Administration (GGPAS) project, supported the transformation of a set of metal shipping containers into a fully-operational Service Center at Dordoi market. Dordoi, the largest wholesale bazaar in Central Asia, has more than 30,000 retail and wholesale entrepreneurs. This joint project will help improve tax collection for entrepreneurs and tax officers at the level where “services meet citizens.”

The STS and USAID GGPAS also recently opened a refurbished and equipped Service Center at Aravan Tax Office, directly improving service delivery for nearly 25,000 customers of Osh province.  With support from the USAID GGPAS project, the training center is compiling a set of training materials and curriculum for its employees that will teach them how to establish, launch, and manage a new Service Center. The materials and training will be provided to employees of the newly opened Aravan and Dordoi Service Centers.
