Caravan of Peace welcomes all those interested in peace, tolerance, and inter-regional dialogue

On July 19, 2013, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through its Conflict Mitigation through Targeted Analysis and Community Action (COMTACA) project, will host a Caravan of Peace event at Dasmia restaurant (2 Gorky Street, Bishkek) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will be attended by government representatives, media, civil society, and residents of Bishkek and other regions.
Caravan of Peace celebrates the diverse cultures and traditions of the southern Kyrgyz Republic. It raises awareness of regional issues and promotes peace, tolerance and inter-regional dialogue. Interactive exhibitions, food-tasting, and musical performances will appear side-by-side with art and photos related to conflict resolution and information on irrigation and pasture conflicts.
COMTACA, implemented by the Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED), works to minimize instability through informed public policy, actionable analysis on conflict trends, and developing both formal and informal community leadership capacity for conflict mitigation. The project supports Early Warning Networks (EWNs) at the rayon, oblast and national levels.
The Bishkek event will be held in conjunction with other Caravan of Peace celebrations throughout the southern Kyrgyz Republic. In Batken the Caravan of Peace will be held at the Drama Theater in Batken City from 10am -3pm on June 18th. The Jalalabad Caravan of Peace will take place on June 26, 2013 from 8:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Suzak, Bazar-Korgon, and Nooken rayons. The celebrations will continue in Aksy and Ala-Buka rayons from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m on June 27; and in Shamaldy-Say town and Jalalabad city from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m on June 28. The Caravan of Peace in Osh will be held at the City Square Fountain from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
