USAID’s clean energy program brought public and private organizations together to renovate the Tbilisi Elders Boarding House with energy efficient and renewable energy solutions. Prior to the renovation, the home had high monthly energy expenses, yet did not have adequate heat to keep its residents warm in the winter or enough hot water for them to take more than two showers per week.
Chargé D’Affaires Nicholas Berliner, USAID Acting Deputy Mission Director Mark Mitchell, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection Gigla Agulashvili, Executive Director of Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN) Nana Janashia, and Goodwill CEO Giorgi Khabashvili participated in the U.S. Government’s Waste Management Technologies in Regions (WMTR) program’s opening of the first public recycling center in Georgia.
On Wednesday, August 3 at 4:00pm representatives of Georgian political parties’ youth branches will hold a briefing and signing of the multi-party agreement on Code of Conduct. The event will take place at Tbilisi Rooms Hotel.

Georgia’s Aisi College recently started a composting and recycling program with assistance from USAID’s Waste Management Technologies in Regions (WMTR) program. When the college’s 800+ students from across Georgia tell their families and friends about their experiences, they will help raise awareness about environmental protection throughout the country.
