The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency have signed a new loan portfolio guarantee agreement with Enat Bank. The agreement guarantees up to 50 percent of losses on $10 million in loans, allowing the bank to offer more loans to women entrepreneurs and expanding the its capacity to lend to small- and medium-sized businesses.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Save the Children and the Government of Ethiopia today celebrated the achievements of USAID’s multi-sector nutrition activity, Empowering New Generations to Improve Nutrition and Economic Opportunities (commonly known as ENGINE). The activity provided nutrition services for more than 5.6 million children under five years of age and reduced child chronic malnutrition in targeted areas by 16 percent.

USAID and the Johns Hopkins University Center for Communication Programs joined the Ministry of Health today to transition critical components of USAID’s Health Communication Capacity Collaborative project to the Government of Ethiopia. Led by Johns Hopkins, project activities included the National Wegen HIV/AIDS hotline, the AIDS Resource Library, popular radio programs about HIV prevention, and social behavioral change communication training for the Ministry of Health.
The U.S. Government, through the U.S Agency for International Development (USAID), in partnership with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health and implementing partners KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation, Management Sciences for Health (MSH) and the World Health Organization (WHO), today celebrated the transition from the HEAL-TB activity to Challenge TB.
