United States Agency for International Development Administrator Rajiv Shah will travel to Burma February 27-28. USAID is delivering on commitments made during Dr. Shah's last visit in March 2013, rapidly mobilizing support to partner with the people of Burma to deepen and strengthen reform. Through meetings with civil society, the private sector, government and other development partners, Dr. Shah will highlight USAID's commitment to innovation and inclusive development under USAID's New Model for Development.

In Yangon, Dr. Shah will launch the first activities of the Global Development Alliance Partnership for Healthier Burma with Procter & Gamble to provide approximately 100 million liters of safe drinking water, which will dramatically reduce deaths from diarrheal disease in the country. He will also meet with private sector and civil society representatives to discuss efforts in scaling up investment and engagement on agri-business and mobile technology, and deliver a speech to stakeholders on food security priorities, and the United States' overarching commitment to humanitarian and development principles.

In Naypyitaw, Dr. Shah will meet with a range of government officials to discuss bilateral assistance issues and the current humanitarian context.
