The two anti-corruption initiatives are:
Civil society support program: This activity strengthens the justice sector’s knowledge of relevant anti-corruption and laws and supports the passage and application of laws that will help reduce corruption. USAID’s local Beninese partner works with local government leaders, civil society leaders, journalists, and students to raise awareness of high level corruption, and advocates for improved justice to reduce impunity.
Support to the National Anti-Corruption Agency (ANLC): USAID provides direct support to the ANLC to expand the number of corruption cases that go before the Ministry of Justice. The project promotes more transparent and accountable judicial processes through quarterly assessments of the progress made on corruption-related cases, and conducts behavior change and communication workshops with executive, legislative, and judicial leaders.
