Yerevan, Armenia – On January 31, USAID/Armenia joined the Small Medium Enterprise Development National Center of Armenia (SME DNC), the Fuller Center for Housing of Armenia and local partners to mark the official launch of two rural development projects – the Partnerships for Rural Prosperity (PRP) and Advanced Rural Development Initiative (ARDI). U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Robert Makaryan, and Deputy Minister of Economy Karine Minasyan delivered opening remarks at the kick-off event in Erebuni Plaza.
Yerevan, Armenia – Head of USAID/Armenia Karen Hilliard and Armenia’s Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan signed two grant agreements on December 20 that will help increase public awareness of the country’s ongoing pension system and enhance the quality of social services. Representatives of the Armenian government and the U.S. Mission attended the ceremony.

Dr. Karen Hilliard, Director of USAID/Armenia, introduced the main strategic directions of bilateral cooperation in the areas of economic growth, governance, health care and social reform. Senior officials of the Armenian government, representatives of local and international donor organizations, the private sector and civil society attended the event.
