Fernando Cossich is the USAID Paraguay Mission Director. Before joining the Paraguay Mission, Mr. Cossich was the Pakistan Deputy Mission Director, with primary responsibility for the $800 million Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) stabilization program. He previously served as Division Chief of the Office of European Country Affairs in the USAID Bureau for Europe and Eurasia, and as Senior Development Advisor to the European Command in Stuttgart, Germany.
As a member of the U.S. Government’s Foreign Service, Mr. Cossich has 23 years of experience with USAID. He has served in a number of places, ranging from war-torn countries to rapidly growing open economies, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Afghanistan, Colombia, Iraq, Pakistan, and the Caucasus. Mr. Cossich has managed support operations in high-threat environments, recruited staff, and developed infrastructure to facilitate rapid implementation.
Mr. Cossich has a B.S. in Civil Engineering and an M.S. in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University, and is the proud father of four children.
