Prior to his assignment to Georgia, Mr. Ball served as the USAID Mission Director in Iraq, one of the most politically important and complex U.S. foreign assistance programs in the Middle East. Mr. Ball also served as the Deputy Mission Director in Jordan from 2011-2014, managing an annual portfolio of more than $700 million per year.
From 2009-2011 Mr. Ball was the Director of USAID’s Latin America and Caribbean Office of Regional Sustainable development (LAC/RSD) -- providing technical expertise, policy advice, outreach, and program support for USAID and other key USG stakeholders in Latin America and the Caribbean. His other overseas tours include Namibia, Honduras, Botswana and the Dominican Republic.
Before joining USAID in 1993, Mr. Ball spent ten years in the private sector as an International Marketing and Operations manager for a U.S.-based firm. Mr. Ball has a bachelor's degree from Yale University and a master's degree in Business Administration from Golden Gate University.
Mr. Ball and his wife, Janet are residents of Portland, Oregon. They have two daughters who attend college in the United States.
