Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso—The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is conducting a workshop on how to integrate climate change adaptation into development strategies from February 10 to 14, 2014, in Ouagadougou.

“Through this workshop, USAID will help policy makers and planners learn how to take climate risks and adaptation options into account when managing development programs, particularly those relating to water resources management,” said Bradley Wallach, USAID West Africa Acting Mission Director.  “We are bringing together representatives of public services, private companies, academic and research institutions as well as organizations that work in the areas of environment and climate change, water management, and the design and construction of water and sanitation infrastructure.”

Workshop participants will learn to employ a mix of participatory methods that involve community members and other stakeholders for identifying and assessing climate change vulnerability and impacts, and developing models for planning the management of those risks.
