On Sept 29-30, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Governance for Inclusive Growth (GIG) Program continued working to improve the MOF’s engagement of citizens during its policy-making process. Public consultation in the policy-making process is critical to building a country based on the rule of law, and to improving the quality of laws; it is also required by the 2015 Law on the Promulgation of Legal Normative Documents. The MOF’s Legal Department and the GIG Program delivered a training program to strengthen the public consultation skills of officials and civil servants who are directly involved in drafting legal normative documents in the finance sector. This activity supports the development of a more transparent, inclusive, and evidence-based, policy-making process in the MOF. It will also help raise awareness among citizens about their rights to contribute to the policy-making process.
