Программа женское лидерство в малом и среднем бизнесе (WLSME) в Кыргызстане нацелена на содействие росту бизнеса 750 женщин предпринимателей в течение 3 лет. Проект основан на гипотезе о развитии, гласящей, что если женщины-владельцы бизнеса смогут расширить свой человеческий и социальный капитал, имея большим доступом к рыночной информации, то они смогут расширить свой бизнес от уровня неформальных микро-предприятий до малых и средних предприятий (5 и более наемных работников).
The Women’s Leadership in Small and Medium Enterprises (WLSME) Program in Kyrgyzstan has the ultimate objective of promoting growth of 750 women-led businesses over three years. The project is based on the development hypothesis that if women business owners had greater human capital, social capital, and access to market information, they would be more likely to grow their micro-enterprise to a size that employs at least five employees or more.
Rapid economic growth in the Lower Mekong region has accelerated the flow of foreign direct investment at unprecedented rates, bringing crucial development finance and reducing poverty rates. At the same time this growth has increased natural resource extraction and infrastructure development. New investments in large-scale infrastructure and agriculture can have significant negative social, environmental and economic consequences if not properly planned and managed.
The United States has a government-wide strategy to combat wildlife trafficking to protect endangered species such as elephants, pangolins, rhinos, sharks, tigers, tuna and turtles. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has been actively working to stop the illegal trade in wildlife in Asia since 2005 when the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Wildlife Enforcement Network (ASEAN-WEN) was created. USAID has built on ASEAN-WEN's successes and is sharing its lessons with China and South Asia through Asia’s Regional Response to Endangered Species Trafficking program. The program addresses trafficking in illegal wildlife in Asia by reducing consumer demand, strengthening law enforcement and improving regional cooperation and anti-trafficking networks.
Health actors in Liberia and Sierra Leone continue to report increasing numbers of EVD cases. While the U.N. World Health Organization (WHO) continues to report a generally stable situation in Nigeria, the Government of Guinea (GoG) has reported a significant increase in suspected and confirmed cases of EVD in Guinea in recent days.
