The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Ministry of Health launched USAID’s Reinforce Basic Health Services (Hakbi’it) Project at the Municipality Administration Office in Debos, Covalima. The event was attended by U.S. Ambassador to Timor-Leste Karen Stanton, Municipality Administrator José Pina Cardoso, and Vice Minister of Health Dr. Ana Isabel Soares.
USAID’s Avansa Agrikultura Project aims to accelerate sustainable economic growth in the agriculture sector. A key component in achieving this is to provide women with opportunities to increase their incomes, which the Project is doing through supporting the expansion of the horticulture value chain. Additionally, women need skills to develop their own businesses; there are a number of obstacles women face in becoming entrepreneurs, especially those living in rural areas.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded its new elections and parliamentary strengthening project in Timor-Leste on July 1, 2016. USAID welcomes its new partner of the Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening (CEPPS), who will implement USAID’s Strengthening Inclusive Elections and Political Processes Project over the next three years (June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2019).
