April 30, 2014 - USAID and ConocoPhillips signed a Memorandum of Understanding to continue partnership in USAID’s Developing Agriculture Communities (DAC) project. The new agreement will add $500,000 for the project, expanding activities to an additional 10 communities, and increasing the number of farmer beneficiaries by 30%. DAC will train farmers in new agriculture techniques to increase productivity, including the use of organic fertilizer and drip irrigation. DAC will also help farmers sell their produce by establishing direct links with buyers, leading to increased income for the farmers. Further, USAID and ConocoPhillips are discussing a longer-term partnership of up to $2.5 million for USAID agriculture activities in Timor-Leste.
