April 16, 2014 - On April 11, 2014, the Ministry of Health (MOH) launched the Facility Readiness Survey in Oecusse, a district in the west of Timor-Leste. The Facility Readiness Survey is a simple tool, which the MOH will use to assess and monitor the ability of health facilities in target areas to provide basic healthcare services, identify the challenges and areas of improvement, and find out solutions to address major gaps in providing healthcare. The challenges may be faced from lack of human resources, scarcity of running water and electricity, or inadequate medical equipment. USAID/Timor-Leste supported the creation of the Survey Tool through its Health Improvement Project (HADIAK). HADIAK also helped develop the Survey Tool in its other two focus districts, Manatuto and Ermera. USAID’s HADIAK provides technical support to the MOH to improve primary integrated healthcare service delivery and staff capacity, particularly at the community level.
