In Tanzania, agriculture is the main driver of the economy, accounting for over 25 percent of GDP and 75 percent of the labor force. Poverty and agricultural underdevelopment are the main causes of chronic undernutrition in Tanzania, which affects 40 percent of children nationwide.USAID helped establish Tanzania's Sokoine University of Agriculture in the 1960s and continues to partner with it through Feed the Future to help the country build its agricultural base and reduce poverty.
