Overview
The Health Systems 20/20 project, which closed in September 2012, supported the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) to identify and address financing, governance, operational, and capacity constraints in the health system. USAID worked closely with the MoPH’s Health Economics and Financing Directorate (HEFD) to reach the goal of ensuring that Afghan citizens have access to high-quality, affordable health care and have sufficient health financing options.

Overview
After the Taliban regime ended in 2001, Afghanistan needed significant investment to develop its higher education sector, and access to liberal arts education remained limited. To address this need, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) joined the Ministry of Higher Education, Afghan business leaders, and private donors in Afghanistan and abroad to establish the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) in 2006.
