U.S. Government and Zamboanga City Enter Into New Partnership to Promote Adoption of E-Payments

U.S. Embassy Manila's United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the City Government of Zamboanga signed a new partnership that will allow residents to pay government taxes and fees anytime, anywhere using electronic channels.

The U.S. Government supports the Philippine Government’s efforts to promote good governance and sustained inclusive growth in the Philippines. These efforts, which are consistent with the Partnership for Growth (PFG) between the U.S. and Philippine Governments, focus on addressing the binding constraints to sustained, more inclusive economic growth in the Philippines.

U.S. Government Launches New Project to Drive Growth in Secondary Cities

On August 14, U.S. Ambassador Philip S. Goldberg formally launched the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth with Equity (SURGE) project. The five-year project will assist secondary cities outside Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao, become engines of inclusive growth.

On August 12, Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario, on behalf of President Benigno S. Aquino III, conferred the Order of Sikatuna with the rank of Maharlika to outgoing U.S. Embassy Manila’s United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director Gloria D.
