Arazi (Afghan Land Authority) via MAIL (Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock) On-Budget Component

DATES: January 2013 - January 2014
PARTNERS: United States Agency for International Development

The MAIL On-Budget Component will focus on providing human and institutional capacity building for the Afghanistan Land Authority (Arazi). Arazi was established to develop and implement a strategy to lease land for agricultural, agro-processing, and industrial purposes. Arazi has been given the responsibility to inventory all government-owned land, establish fair and transparent procedures for its leasing, and set up a one-stop window that makes leasing attractive to both domestic and foreign investors. To accomplish these tasks, USAID will provide on-budget support to MAIL to improve the administrative and financial capacity of Arazi.
