In March 2015, USAID transferred ownership of five new rural health centers to the Ethiopian Ministry of Health. The health centers improve access to maternal and child health services, HIV/AIDS treatments, and preventive care in the SNNP region. The new health centers serve more than 125,000 people.

(00:44-00:51) The fact there is power and running water feels like you are working in Addis Ababa.
(00:51-00:53) The community is amazed at the fact that there is water and power.
(00:53-00:57) Because they know there is power, they can get access to laboratory services such as TB testing.
(01:01- 01:06) Because of the 24 hour service we provide, patients can come at any time.
(01:09- 01:10) We’re happy.
(01:20-01:23) Before the establishment of this health center,
(01:23-01:27) our mothers and sisters were suffering,
(01:27-01:30) because they lacked knowledge about the services available.
(01:31-01:34) Now they are aware of the services.
(01:34-01:36) Mothers are very lucky.
(01:37-01:40) When labor starts, the family calls an ambulance…
(01:40-01:45) to take them to the health center where they give birth and get better.
(01:45-01:49) I got my first pregnancy vaccination here.
(01:50-01:53) It made me feel better.
(01:55-01:58) When I have my baby, I will come to this health center to deliver.
(04:23-04:30) The third is a new dry roasted chickpea snack product which is the first of its kind to be produced in Ethiopia.
