USAID/Philippines: The Alliance for Mindanao Off-grid Renewable Energy Program installed its first solar photovoltaic lighting system in the community center and the streets of the remote island barangay of Pababag in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi in August 2002. At the same time, three 300-wattpeak battery charging stations began to serve the energy needs of thirty households by charging up 80 to 100-ampere hours (Ah) battery that could power two compact fluorescent lamps and in some instances, a radio or a black & white television set for each household.
