On April 25th 2013 Mozambique celebrated World Malaria Day through an event, supported by the President’s Malaria Initiative, aimed at raising awareness of the impact that malaria has in people’s lives and the ways in which Mozambique and their citizens are working to prevent and treat malaria. Polly Dunford, USAID/Mozambique Deputy Mission Director, represented the U.S. Government.
The event was also sponsored by the Office of the First Lady, who attended the celebrations, and by the Ministry of Health, represented by the National Director of Public Health, Dr. Mouzinho Saíde.
The President’s Malaria Initiative has been supporting malaria prevention and treatment in Mozambique through our partners and technical assistance since 2007 with an overall budget totaling $190,000,000.
