TIRANA – MAY 18, 2012 Thanks to the support of the USAID’s Albanian Justice Sector Strengthening Project (JuST), the National Chamber of Advocates (NCA) has published the second issue of its quarterly bar journal “Avokatia”.
Among its articles, you will find:
- “Wrongful imprisonment and its compensation” by Enida Bozheku;
- The institute of heritage in the spectrum of the High Court unifying decisions” by Juliana Latifi;
- “The development of the European private law and the need for a common frame of reference”, by Gerta Mehmeti;
- The need for drafting a new Criminal Code” by Fehmi Abdiu.
The second issue also includes articles from well-known legal professionals in their respective fields, like Mariana Semini, Luan Veliqoti, Maksim Haxhia, Eralda Methasani etc. The goal of the journal is to foster professional debate among Albania’s legal community on a variety of legal issues and legal, judicial and doctrinal developments at both the national and international level.
The bar journal “Avokatia” now welcomes articles from lawyers, assistant lawyers and other justice sector professionals for its third issue, which shall be issued in July 2012. The publication of “Avokatia” is one of a number of USAID-supported activities through the JuST project, such as the Program of Continuing Legal Education or the Law Clinic at the Law Faculty of the University of Tirana, designed to help strengthen the professionalism and academic training of Albanian lawyers.
The five-year USAID’s JuST project, which began in October 2010, works to increase court transparency, fairness and efficiency; bolster watchdog and anticorruption roles of civil society organizations and media; and strengthen the legal profession and legal education in Albania.
