WASHINGTON, D.C. - On Thursday, March 1st, U.S. Agency for International Development Administrator Rajiv Shah and Deputy Administrator Donald Steinberg will be joined by Gayle Smith, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Development to unveil the Agency's new Gender Policy on Gender Equality and Female Empowerment.
The new Policy aims to improve the lives of people and communities around the world by empowering women and girls to participate fully in and benefit from the development of their societies.
The event will include special remarks by Faida Mitifu, Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo; Geeta Rao Gupta, Deputy Executive Director for UNICEF; and Mohamed A. El-Erian, CEO of PIMCO.
Media representatives who plan to attend should RSVP no later than Wednesday, February 29 at 10 a.m. Eastern. RSVP's are required by the deadline for this event.
