USAID to Host World Renowned Athletes for a Conversation on Sports and Development at UN General Assembly

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) will host an event in association with the 66th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York City entitled "In the Arena: Sport as a Catalyst for International Development." USAID is engaging strategic partners through the innovative platform of sport to accomplish global development goals. Organizations worldwide have been able to harness the power of sport to address societal challenges related to health, hunger, education, gender equality and citizen security. Sport is a universal language that inspires in a way that few activities can. Through this event, USAID is bringing together actors who are passionate about using sport as a catalyst for social change.
