For Immediate Release

Monday, March 18, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Dr. Rajiv Shah will deliver remarks and release USAID’s progress report on its signature reform initiative USAID Forward Wednesday March 20th at an event co-hosted by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) and the Center for American Progress (CAP). At the event, Administrator Shah will deliver remarks and participate in a discussion with Danielle Pletka of AEI and John Norris of CAP.

Three years ago, President Obama and Secretary Clinton called for the elevation of development as a key part of America’s national security and foreign policy. Through both the first ever Presidential Policy Directive on Global Development and Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review, they set forth a vision of an empowered and robust Agency that could lead the world in solving the greatest development challenges of our time. To meet these high expectations and approach our mission with renewed capacity, USAID has undertaken an ambitious reform agenda called USAID Forward.

Administrator Shah’s remarks, the proceeding discussion and the progress report will examine the progress of these reforms and its effect on development creating new partnerships, placing a greater emphasis on innovation and a relentless focus on results. The event will be open to press and livestreamed here.
