U.S. Government Releases Food Aid Report to Improve Nutrition

WASHINGTON, D.C. - USAID will launch a new report on food aid quality that will improve the nutritional quality of food assistance to better meet the nutritional needs of vulnerable populations overseas. The recommendations could result in the most far-reaching nutritional quality improvements to U.S. food aid since the introduction of fortified blended foods in 1966.

Dr. Rajiv Shah, Administrator, USAID will give opening remarks. Nancy Lindborg, Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Democracy, Conflict, and Humanitarian Assistance at USAID, as well as representatives from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University and USAID's Office of Food for Peace will participate.
