USAID is committed to openness and transparency, and we take our obligation to release information under FOIA very seriously. The significant increase in the volume of information requested, however, is delaying our responses.
We have worked very closely with the Associated Press in an effort to be responsive to its requests, including releasing three previous tranches of documents and consulting more than 10 times over the last eighteen months to provide status updates.
In an effort to improve our responses, USAID has instituted new measures to accelerate and strengthen our FOIA process. The Agency remains committed to further reducing the time it takes to process FOIA requests.
