Poti, May 18, 2016 -- The Ministry of Justice held a launch ceremony for the new USAID-supported Trade Facilitation System (TFS), an electronic portal that will streamline trade logistics by enabling traders, customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and other international trade participants to submit and retrieve information electronically. TFS will save 3.7 hours of operator working time and 26 printed pages per shipment, almost 4,530,000 GEL annually for transport and logistics companies, and 1 million paper documents annually.

Irakli Gvenetadze, Head of the Ministry of Justice’s Data Exchange Agency (DEA), held an on-site demonstration to provide an overview of the system’s function and benefits for guests. Following the demonstration, the Minister of Justice, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, and USAID leadership made remarks. Attendees included government officials, diplomatic partners, and public and private sector stakeholders.
