Objectives

The overall objective is to increase pluralism and transparency in the media environment. The specific objective is to create an informed citizenry able to engage in public issues in order to articulate their preferences and interests to public officials and institutions.

Component

• The project upgraded the existing "TOP TEMA" show to a TV magazine style that is aired three times a week and is increasing citizen involvement s by taking the show out of the studio and directly to communities throughout Macedonia.
• The project is increasing citizen engagement by organizing community town hall debates surveys and citizen journalism, presentation of investigative journalism stories, fact checking of the behavior, promises, and views of the political parties, and public meetings between politicians and their constituencies. Telma TV will partner with the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCIC), a local organization that works with CSOs and citizens, to educate citizens about how to get involved and bring media attention to their local issues.

Expected Results/Impact

• Objective and informative media content produced;
• Capacity strengthened of citizens on how to engage in discussions on important social issues that influence the future of their communities and Macedonian society;
• Innovative methods developed for engaging viewers in discussions on newsworthy stories.
